The Broncos’ defensive line regained some needed depth Monday. Reserve nose tackle Kyle Peko passed his physical and was activated from the PUP (physically unable to perform) list.
Peko broke a bone in his right foot during practice in June and was projected initially to be back by early training camp.
His return is welcome for a line that has suffered a rash of injuries this summer. Defensive end Billy Winn suffered a season-ending knee injury in the preseason opener, and starting defensive ends Derek Wolfe (ankle) and Jared Crick (back) have missed recent weeks to recover injuries sustained in practice.
Peko appeared in one game last season as a rookie after signing as an undrafted free agent in May. He is second on the depth chart at nose tackle, behind his cousin Domata Peko.
