Carlos Gonzalez scratched from Rockies game with sore foot and ankle

Carlos Gonzalez‘s trying season just got worse.

The Rockies’ right fielder was a late scratch for Monday’s game against Detroit because of a sore left foot and ankle. There is no timetable for his return, but Gonzalez was limping Monday night after the Tigers beat the Rockies, 4-3.

“It felt fine during batting practice, because (I was) wearing running shoes,” Gonzalez said. “And then when I got ready for the game and I put on my cleats, it didn’t feel too good, so we decided to do the late scratch.

“Then I was trying to hit in the cage and that’s when it started feeling really bad, so that’s when they decided to change the lineup.”

Gonzalez fouled a ball off his leg during the Rockies’ 3-0 win at Atlanta on Sunday and that led to his injury.
