DispatchHealth raises $30.8 million from investors in nod to rise of home doctor visits

Getting a doctor to visit patients at home is gaining momentum as Denver’s DispatchHealth, which offers a home service, said Monday it picked up $30.8 million from investors interested in expanding the service much faster.

The company, which links patients to emergency providers via mobile app, said the funding round was led by Alta Partners and Questa Capital, both San Francisco venture-capital firms, and will be used to improve on the technology.

“There is a growing body of literature that suggests in-home care delivery produces superior outcomes, and this is consistent with our experience,” Mark Prather, its CEO and co-founder, said in a statement. “To date, we have produced over $20 million in medical cost savings and our results are amplified by our ability to create optimized care plans while viewing, first-hand, the patient’s surroundings and social determinants of health. This model is needed in every market across America,”
