Plans make it official: Ikea moves forward with Broomfield store, its second in Colorado

Swedish home-furnishings retailer Ikea has made its second Colorado store official by submitting plans to the city and county of Broomfield.

Depending on how quickly Broomfield approves the plans, construction could begin as soon as spring 2018 with the store opening at the northwest corner of Interstate 25 and Colorado 7 by summer of 2019.

“We are hoping to receive all the city and county approval within the next six months,” Ikea spokesman Joseph Roth said. “We already own the land so we’re not waiting to close on that.”

The 400,000-square-foot proposed Ikea store and its 1,500 parking spaces would be built on 36 acres of the 123-acre parcel about 17-miles north of downtown Denver.
